Fact Not Fiction

Today is a wonderful day for the females of the species who have reproduced and brought some Kittens into this world. Whilst I don't really celebrate all these commercialised annual events I do quite like Mother's Day, not because I get some flowers and a card but because it reminds me that I am a Mother and how special that actually is. It is an absolute honour to be called Mum, it's a title I never thought I would ever have as I was a bit of a late starter compared to most in that department.

Whether you are a Mum or a Dad for that matter, make sure you remember the most important woman in your life today, your very own Mum! pick up the phone and make her smile wherever you are in the World.

I love you Mum

My personal facebook pagehas always been in the name of my alter ego, Geordie Armani. In January of 2011 I launched this very website and at that timeI honestly had no idea that it would be successful and had visions of it ceasing to exist after a few months! I however was very wrong and it has gone from strength to strength thanks to you my loyal readers.

Over the last 12 months I have received hundreds of friend requests on Facebook from people who read this site and possibly follow me on twitter. I haven't accepted all these facebook requests as I have tried to keep my facebook page for family and close friends. I toyed with the idea of setting up a separate page for Geordie Armani a while back but to be very honest with you all, I didn't want to come over as being pretentious in anyway. People who know me in the real world know and understand how I feel about "Geordie Armani", one of these days I might share that with you all.

So in this ever changing world of social media and self promotion a page has been set up to enable me to direct people to it who have an interest in the website. You will notice that there is adifferent logo, I am in the process of rebranding the entire site, which should happen in the next few weeks, this logo is a temporary one. As you are aware I don't have comments enabled on this site, but you will be able to ask all your questions via the Facebook page. You can of course always follow me on Twitter, I am always tweeting.

Thanks for all your support it is greatly appreciated.

Facebook and Twitter

Live each day as if it's your last, a phrase we often hear following a bereavement, one we take on board and then kind of forget once things get back to normal. If you are in my twitter world you will know that in the last ten days we have had two very upsetting deaths to contend with. I won't go into all the details but I know alot of us are feeling damaged emotionally and finding it very hard to come to terms with.

Let me refer to them as The Big Guy and The Little Guy, they won't be offended by this and it suits them perfectly. The Big Guy, we all knew that he had fought a strong brave battle with cancer and we were all party to what he went through, we were all able to offer support and tell him how much we thought about him, what an inspiration he was to us all, when he passed I was devastated, but I was expecting it and it wasn't a shock when I heard the sad news. The Funeral took place on Sunday, there were flowers, family, friends, colleagues and a Vicar talking about Twitter, The Big Guy would have approved of this.

The day before the Funeral I learnt that The Little Guy was having problems, had collapsed, was in the hospital, pray for The Little Guy we were told, we all prayed, we all waited, we all watched, we all cried when he passed away, so so sudden, no time to say goodbye, no time to share a joke, no time to give a hug, he was gone. Ironically The Little Guy passed on the 1st Anniversary of my website, he loved this website, he retweeted that Idiot's Guide to Twitter about 50 times, that is why it has been the most visited article I have ever written. It was because of him I even wrote it in the first place, I can remember him pestering me to tell him how it all worked properly, as if I knew, hence it was called an Idiot's guide as it had been written by one.

When we lose one of our flock it hurts, it goes right inside your heart, it makes you feel as if you are going to be physically sick. I think most of us have felt like that over the last ten days. We have all asked the question, why? No one knows why, it's just life.

I want each and every one of us to take time out to tell the people in your life that are important to you, that you love them, pick up the phone, send a text, tweet them!! do it however you want, just make sure you do it, because if there is one thing I wish I had done, it would have been to tell The Little Guy what a great person he was, The Big Guy knew.

Rest in Peace

Love always

Debbie x

Welcome to 2012, I am starting this year with a thank you note to last year. Last year wasn't a bad year, it just wasn't a good one either for me personally. It started of really well, we made a decision to move into a nice villa which went smoothly, I also had my best friend from UK over for a visit just before we moved to celebrate Rachel's 7th Birthday. It went wrong in the summer when I herniated a disc in my lumbar spine, most of you know about that but there are a few people I really do need to thank for their constant support and help during the last four months of 2012.

To my husband; I have no idea how you have coped living with me for the last four months. Your understanding and patience has been amazing.

To my family; both here and overseas your endless support has kept me going, the messages of support, the facebook updates, the emails, all of them have cheered me up endlessly.

To my friends; first of all Hinge, has been amazing, kept our site going, whilst I think it's safe to say that 2011 wasn't one of her good years either. To Jill, Janet, Juliette, Suzanne, Keren and Simon, the endless chiro visits, the hospital trips, thanks for being taxi drivers the entire time.

To my neighbours; Miss Nigeria, you are simply the best! you changed my life for the better and became the best nurse a woman could want! Debbie, the school run Queen, thank you!!

To the Twitterati; huge huge support from all of you, from right around the globe, "my boys" in Spain, the team up at Le Meridien Al Aqah, Catboy and Dave Hodgson who were there through the night when I couldn't sleep! Carole and Alice, always caring, always asking, thanks.

To my Slimming World Ladies; the best thing to come out of all of this was losing some weight, you know who you are and you will always be my secret pleasure, and 2012 is going to see even more weight loss for us all.

To my daughter; Mitten you have been the one you has missed out the most, damn Mummy and her bad back, but things are slowly getting back to normal and 2012 is going to be our year, I have a few surprises up my sleeve for all of us.

To my iPhone; I couldn't have got through it without you!!

(edited to say that sadly Dave Hodgson died last night I am still going to send him a copy of this though, he hated to miss anything)

In July 2006 a relatively unknown Software Engineer, Jack Dorsey, launched the online social networking site Twitter. I didn't join the on line phenomenen until April 2009, and admittedly it took me a few months to get to grips with it. Now I wouldn't be without it. Read more...
