Personal Recommendations

As some of you are aware I am a huge fan of the highly successful comedy series Benidorm. Tonight on ITV at 9 pm sees the start of the fourth series and I can't wait to catch up with the Garvey family as they spend another summer in Benidorm.

When I joined twitter I made alot of new friends who are also fans of Benidorm, too many to list really but they have become a big part of my twitter life.  I have followed the writer of the show, Derren Litten and my favourite character Jake Canuso from day one.   Two special men in my life, Mark Nolan and Derek Appleton were invited to the set of Benidorm a few months back and will appear in episode 5 of the current series, wearing slightly less clothing than they usually do!!  (or so I am lead to beleive).  Mark hosts a popular show on daytime radio in Spain and today they are celebrating Benidorm Day with Jake Canuso and Steve Pemberton as guests.  I won't hear the show live but plan to listen to it tomorrow as they are kindly recording it so I don't miss out! You can listen live via from 2 pm til 6 pm (UK time).

Derren Litten is an amazing writer who just manages to capture the essence of the package holiday annual trip to Spain with the constantly entertaining Garvey Family. The Actors who play the various members of the cast always suit their characters perfectly.

I could go on all day about the various characters and people I have become friends with because of this show, but I won't, tune in yourself and find out what all the exitement is about. This little write up is for the Benidorm Twitterati, you know who you are ...

RIP Geoffrey Hutchings

As it would happen Lady Luck was shining down on Casa GA earlier this week when out of the blue the wonderful Grand Millenium Al Wahda in Abu Dhabi kindly, like a Fairy Godmother blessed me with a much needed overnight stay in their fabulous new hotel.  I needed a break and had been trawling the internet for special offers for this weekend and was practically jumping for joy when they were able to accomodate us last night!!

We packed up yesterday morning and headed down to Abu Dhabi, the GPS on the iPhone 4 was programmed and just over an hour later we pulled into the valet parking area of the biggest hotel in Abu Dhabi!! yes it is huge!!  850 rooms in total, spread over two adjoining tower blocks.  Check in was over in minutes and we headed up to the room which was beautiful! a massive white bed with fluffy pillow cases, Mitten jumped onto it and fell into it like a marshmallow!

Five minutes later we were changed and heading up the roof top pool.   Beautiful luxurious pool area with sofas, tables and huge big arm chairs for those wanting to read or relax. We got our self a few sunloungers and relaxed in the afternoon sun whilst ordering lunch from the pool bar.  The pool area is covered and uncovered if that makes sense, a wonderful idea as the staff have a super shaded area for the summer months.

The hotel boasts an array of restaurants, Toshi- Far Eastern, Porto Bello - Italian, Al Wahda - All Day Dining, Lobby Lounge - cream teas!!, and opening soon is a steak restaurant, PorterHouse Grill.  As I expected the food was top notch and we really couldn't complain about a thing.  If you are in Abu Dhabi, or visiting you must take advantage of their current 2-for-1 offer in Toshi, and Porto Bello.  The Lobby lounge is offering afternoon Tea for Two for just 95 ++ AED.

The Hotel is conveniently located right next to Al Wahda Mall, which we had a quick look around before dinner.  Great little Mall (in comparison to Dubai monstrosities) housing all the household favourites we are familiar with here in the UAE.

A hotel is a hotel, a bedroom is a bedroom, a bathroom is a bathroom, without two essential ingredients a Hotel will never become a second home ........  LÓccitane toiletries and fantastic staff, the amazing Grand Millenium Al Wahda, I am very pleased to say has them both.

I dedicate this to Kassem, he knows who he is ...

We all love a bit of unhealthy indulengce every now and then don't we?  I am very happy to say that we can make that a healthy indulgence now that NKD Pizza has opened up their first outlet in Dubai.  Hailing from the great US of A these guys now what they are talking about it when it comes to Pizza and customer service.

I started following @nkdpizza months ago when they set up their social media campaign in Dubai and over the months watched as eventually they opened their first outlet, started taking orders and had a little celebratory opening "do".  It's nice to feel part of a company and not just a customer.  NKD have done a great job of including all their potential customers in their journey of becoming a successful retailer in Dubai, whilst tempting us with their super duper healthy Pizza. Of course I had to check them out, I am not going to ramble on and on about how good the "zza" was, I wouldn't be writing this if it wasn't!  the website is self explanatory, you choose what you want, either ring them or order on line and voila 30 mins later, or thereabouts pizza on your doorstep.

NKD have a strict delivery area code, this is to ensure you get piping hot fresh food delivered your door, but don't despair if you are not living in one of the areas on their site, new outlets planned real soon!!  To become part of the NKD family you can hunt them out on Facebook or follow them on twitter @nkdpizza or simply log onto their efficient and easy to navigate website.

Well done NKD, we are definitely looking forward to getting naked again ....

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to write this little article.  A good friend of mine has lost her cat and I am hoping that by writing this and sharing it with the Twitter world that we might be able to find Millie.   Millie has gone missing from Le Coleccion on the Arabian Ranches.  She has been missing two days now.  Two children are pining for her.  Please keep your eyes open for Millie, if you see her get in touch with me on 050 5512502.

It's the 29th of January and the other man in my life is his celebrating his 40th Birthday, yes you guessed it Juan.  Happy Birthday Juan, I hope you have a fabulous day and that the big 40 is not a massive shock to the system!!!

Keep cutting!

Love as ever, GA xx

I would like to recommend Sheheryar from LaptopsinUAE, I met "Sherry" on Twitter when I was having a laptop drama, he came to the house the very next day and sorted it out in a matter of minutes. Totally amazing, 100% trustworthy and he really does know his stuff and he doesn't charge a fortune. If you have a laptop issue or simply would like to buy a new one, speak to him, he's your man
