Taste Buds

I love all soups but my favourite when I am out and about in Dubai is the fantastic mushroom soup at Biella. I know I have mentioned Biella before on this site but it is just a coincidence, I promise you. We were down at Wafi yesterday and nipped into Biella for lunch. Perfect location at this time of year as there is a super little outdoor terrace. Wafi these days is so quiet during the day we practically had the Terrace all to ourselves. I also think that the bread basket at Biella is one of the best as well, with french butter or fabulous olive oil and balsamic vinegar. So if you are fancying some nice fresh rich creamy mushroom soup, then Biella is a must!

I am not one for measuring ingredients out (Jamie Oliver style), I just go along with it and taste as I cook to make sure it is seasoned to my taste.

In a pan fry some chopped onions, garlic, 200 grams of low fat mince beef and 200 grams of pork sausage. I used Breakfast Sausage and squeezed it out of the skins. Fry for about 7 minutes until brown, remove from heat and drain the fat and juice off. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes to the pan and a good handful of rice, return the meat to the pan and simmer until the rice is cooked, approx 12 minutes or so. Add some salt and pepper to season. If the mixture is too wet just let it reduce on a low heat until it is dry. Leave to cool.

I bought three huge green peppers from Aswaaq for 2 dhms, chop the tops off and remove all the seeds and white pith, fill with the meat mixture and then cook in a medium hot oven for approx 30 - 45 mins, turning half way through.

My first food review, well for this site it is. As you know I am dieting and one thing that 6 year olds don't understand is the complex brain of a woman who is dieting. After school today we headed to Burger King (yes Sunjay will kill me), to fill the child up with what we assume is chicken, we will never know really. Anyway being determined not to to cheat on my diet (except for the odd After Eight) I ordered the chicken salad, with ceasar dressing. I have to admit I was very impressed with it!! nice fresh salad ingredients with chopped chicken on the top, sprinkled on a few of their garlic croutons and hey presto the cheapest lunch I have had out in months!!! If you have little ones and they want their weekly dose of junk, don't despair, try the Healthy Options at these fast food outlets, you may like me, be pleasantly surprised
