Taste Buds

To celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan I thought it was only fitting that the Twitterati have a little get together and share an Iftar experience.

The first thing that is always discussed at great length is the location and various places were suggested and dismissed due to access to the venue, lack of parking, accessability and then ultimately the cost.  We all know that the majority of hotels here see Ramadan as a licence to up their prices and cash in on what is supposed to be a time of giving and sharing. I of course turned to the world of Social Media (because it does work) in an attempt to find a location that would suit all and offer us value for money in a serene setting too.

After contacting various Hotels via facebook and Twitter one came up with everything we needed, the Pullman Hotel at Mall of the Emirates, were to be our hosts for the evening.  The restaurant in question was the fabulous Sanabel, located adjacent to the foyer of the hotel.  For those of you who are not aware Sanabel means "wheat" in English and the restaurant reflected the theme in every way.   Rustic wood with an amazing display of various forms of bread met us on arrival. We were welcomed warmly by Mahendra, Roxanne and the rest of the team.

The buffet was quite simply amazing, there was everything you could possibly think of, the salad bar and selection of leaves was second to none, the king prawns from the grill were huge!  the tandoor grill supplied an endless supply of hot naan bread, our glasses were never empty with a selection of soft drinks.  Everyone commented on the standard of the food especially the desserts. Now this is where it gets really good, not only was there a table with tantalizing arabic desserts and cheesecakes there were 5 floor to ceiling fridges full of individual desserts, the frozen blueberry yogurt seemed to be everyones favourite.

I, on behalf of the Twitterati who were in attendance would like to to thank the entire team at the Pullman Hotel at Mall of the Emirates for making our evening so special. We will be back later in the year to enjoy a Friday Brunch and closer towards Christmas a little festive get together.

Sanabel is currently open for lunch and Iftar, lunch is 120 dhs, Iftar 150 dhs per person, but there is a group discount if you contact them directly to make a booking for groups of over 10.
