We all think it will never happen to us, but you know what it might. No one is safe from the odd RTA or misdemeanour in this Country and over the years I have learnt a few things about dealing with the local Constabulary. I am no expert on such things and would never claim to be, but there are few things I would like to point out to keep you on the straight and narrow and that will help you should you happen to end up a in a situation you are not to familiar with.

First of all, memorise a phone number or two for that matter. Should you happen to have a run in with the Law which involes you being placed in custody the first thing that is removed from you will be your mobile phone and wallet and any other personal belongings, this will probably happen before you are allowed to make any phone calls, so don't rely on your phone to be your memory. You will need to contact someone who will be able to liaise with the Police to try and resolve whatever situation it is that you have managed to get yourself into! I sincerely hope you don't have to thank me for this information but you never know. Stay safe!

In the UK the worst thing we could possibly do is leave all the documentation relating to our vehicle inside our vehicle, it is the other way round however in the UAE. You must keep your Insurance, registration documents and driving licence in the car incase of an accident you will be asked to produce them, if you have them to hand can save a trip to the Station. Please remember if you have a small bump just to pull over so as not to obstruct the traffic and then call the Police.

Always remember to be courteous to the Police when you are here, there is no point antagonising someone when you are a guest in this Country.
